Lawsuit Blames Zyprexa for Sudden Death
- August 27, 2007
A lawsuit was recently filed against the manufacturers of Zyprexa, Eli Lily & Company, by the parents of a boy who suddenly died after being prescribed the drug.
The parents believe the drug is to blame for their son's death and they have filed the wrongful death suit in order to ensure something like this doesn't happen to another family.
Zyprexa Ends A Boy's Future
Scott Sexton, who was valedictorian of his high school and graduated with honors from Rice University, had just begun his first job at Delloite Touche when he was prescribed Zyprexa.
Doctors believed the anti-depressant would help treat a mental disorder that Scott was suffering from.
Not long after he was prescribed the drug, Sexton died from pancreatitis.
The parents believe the anti-depressant drug, Zyprexa, is to blame for the death of their son and they hope to receive compensation for their tragic loss.
Family in Mourning
Charles and Kaye Sexton believe Zyprexa caused their son's illness and eventual death.
Although Zyprexa was approved by the FDA and is given to patients with bipolar and depressive disorders, the medication has been criticized by many for causing health complications.
The Sexton's believe that Eli Lily falsely markets the medications and believe it to be unsafe and potentially deadly.
They are seeking compensation for their immense loss, pain and anguish.
